A memorial scholarship for graduating high school seniors in the Dallas/Fort Worth area that are pursuing careers in STEM and/or veterinary medicine.
Mission Statement:
This is a scholarship established by Dr. Johneisha Motley, a Dallas native, to honor the lives and lasting impact of her parents whose heart, sacrifice, and unwavering belief in education shaped her journey to becoming a veterinarian.
This scholarship supports young men and women pursuing careers in STEM and/or veterinary medicine and demonstrates leadership, resilience, and commitment to uplifting their communities.
Through this award, Dr. Motley hopes to inspire the next generation of leaders and expand representation in fields where young students may not always see themselves reflected.

Johnny K. Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility:
Graduating high school senior from Dallas/FW Metroplex attending an accredited college/university pursuing a STEM or pre-veterinary major
Minimum GPA: 3.0
Demonstrates leadership & community service
Applications Open: March 21, 2026
Application Deadline: May 31, 2026
Recipients Announced: July 1, 2026
All awarded funds will be sent directly to the recipient’s accredited college or university to be applied towards tuition, fees, and other educational expenses.
Meet the Founder:
Dr. Johneisha Motley is a veterinarian, mentor, and community advocate based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area who is dedicated to providing compassionate veterinary care while also inspiring the next generation of students interested in science, medicine, and veterinary careers.
Throughout her journey, Dr. Motley has been passionate about mentorship and education. She regularly works with students who aspire to pursue careers in STEM and veterinary medicine, offering guidance, career exposure, and encouragement to help them see possibilities they may not have previously imagined.
The creation of the Shelia P. & Johnny K. Memorial Scholarship holds deep personal meaning for Dr. Motley. Following the recent loss of her mother, she felt a profound desire to honor her parents’ legacy in a way that would create lasting impact. Their love, support, and belief in the power of education shaped her journey and helped her become the person she is today.
In their memory, Dr. Motley established this scholarship to support high school seniors in the Dallas–Fort Worth area pursuing careers in STEM and veterinary medicine, with a special focus on empowering students from communities that have historically been underrepresented in science and medicine.
Through this scholarship, she hopes to not only provide financial support but also to inspire students to pursue their dreams boldly and to become leaders who give back to their communities.
The legacy of Shelia P. and Johnny K. will continue to live on through every student whose path is made a little easier because of this opportunity.
